2009 CSX Santa Train

Heading north toward Shelby, KY for Saturdays trip south. Passing the old Dante station.

Someone catches a stuffed animal thrown by Santa in Dante, VA. The most famous photographed spot along the Clinchfield is at the Union Baptist Church located in Dante, VA.

The 67th running of the Santa Train arrives at St. Paul, VA. Santa greets the crowd in St. Paul as the train comes to a stop.

Everyone is ready for Santa in St. Paul, VA. As the train departs St. Paul people wave goodbye.

Lead units head around Osborne Curve. Arriving in Dungannon, VA as the Santa Train passes under VA65.

Turned out to be a great day as the train heads through Starnes, VA. Crossing the massive Copper Creek Viaduct.
       
As the Santa Train crosses above you can see the Norfolk Southern main below. The lead unit is ex-Clinchfield 3018, a veteran of many trips across this structure.
       
You can see how massive this structure is looking at it from this angle. The Santa Train eases across Copper Creek Viaduct on its annual southbound run.
